Logan Beesley and Lucas Wheelhouse will don red shirts this weekend to participate in the Great Strides fun run and walk at Bendigo’s Lake Weeroona.

The annual event, now in its sixth year, is a major fundraiser for cystic fibrosis organisations around Australia.
Logan and Lucas will be there to support their good friend Lincoln Cain, who was diagnosed with the rare genetic disorder at birth.
Lincoln’s sister Skyrah, who is four years younger, also lives with the illness which affects about 3000 Australians.
Expected to be among the youngest participants on October 26, Logan and Lucas could easily qualify as the fun run and walk’s most generous too.
The pair has been busy fundraising over the past month, with Lucas and his family raising more than $2000 and Logan and family raising nearly $1500.
Logan’s mum Erin Beesley said she could not be prouder of the two boys’ efforts.
“The support has blown us away,” she said.
“The kinder donated $500 and the shops in Epsom and Huntly and relatives and friends have all really gotten behind the cause.
“Logan doesn’t really understand money – he gets given $5 and he’s rapt, he gets $100 he’s rapt too.”
Ms Beesley told of how when the fundraising total hit $500, Logan suggested they would now be able to buy Lincoln a cure for his cystic fibrosis.
She praised the effort of event organiser Kristy drawing attention to cystic fibrosis
“We didn’t know how devastating this disease can be - it’s a real invisible illness,” she said.
Lucas’ mum Jenna Wheelhouse said her son has always been the thoughtful type.
“He’s a very sweet boy – he’s always very helpful,” she said.
Cystic fibrosis is the most common life-threatening genetic condition in Australia and primarily affects the lungs and digestive system.
There is no cure.
Suffferers need regular treatment involving a daily cocktail of drugs and vitamins and physiotherapy.
Great Strides participants have a choice of a choice of a six kilometre run, or three kilometre run or walk.
The event starts at 8am and includes entertainment and family-friendly activities, including a jumping castle, face painting and a barbecue.
