Rhys joins his younger brother Alik at the Tigers.
Rhys Magin spent two years with Essendon in 2008 and 2009, playing four senior games and kicking two goals.
The 25-year-old spent the past five seasons with Avondale Heights in the Essendon District Football League.
“Rhys is reaching that age bracket now where he’s at his peak,’’ Kyneton coach Mark Adamson said.
“He gave great service to Avondale Heights for five years and he’s regarded as one of the more dangerous midfield-forwards in the Essendon league.
“To have Rhys joining his brother at the club is a massive get for us.”
Adamson said Rhys Magin is in a similiar mould to Alik and Kyneton star Ben Weightman.
“He can play in a number of spots,’’ Adamson said of Rhys Magin.
“He’s quick, has good skills and good hands. He’s a terrific addition.
“I think the way he plays will suit the Bendigo competition and, more importantly, the way we want to play.”
Adamson remains confident that the majority of the Tigers’ 2014 senior list will remain at the club.
Key defender Kane Rantsed is the only notable departure at this stage.
