The under-17 netballers lost to North East in the state championship grand final on Sunday.
The talented team played 17 games across the two-day competition, losing 17 to 9 in the decider.
Netball Victoria regional liaison officer Gill Davey said it was an outstanding achievement.
“Their campaign was outstanding and very well managed by the coaching panel,” she said.
“They used multiple combinations to rest players and get the best out of the squad.
“The semi-final performance was a highlight with some gutsy physical performances.”
The North Central Open team faced some difficult competition this year.
They won three games and lost six.
Their best performance of the event was when they defeated the eventual competition winner, Two Bays by one goal.
“The 15-and-under team had an outstanding day on the Saturday but were unable to back it up with solid performances on the Sunday,” Davey said.
The Golden City Netball Association won the All Abilities state division two competition on Sunday, defeating Parkville 10 to 6 in the grand final.
Davey said netball in the region was heading in the right direction.
“The North Central Netball region is seen as a very professional region with excellent coaches, administration staff and umpires,” she said.
“We have put a lot of effort into making our tilt at the campaign smooth and seamless.”
