The Hearty Breakfast and Run will take place at Rosalind Park from 6am-10am and participants can chose their level of activity - whether it be walking, running, skipping or fitness classes - before grabbing some free breakfast.
Attendees can also show support for their favourite AFL team by wearing their team colours, with prizes on offer for the best dressed girl and boy.
Participants will be encouraged to make a gold donation on the day, with the aim of raising $5000 to go towards the Heart Foundation.
The brainchild of Bendigo resident, Jye Sandiford, the event began as a fun run but soon morphed into something more inclusive.
He said he was expecting about 50 to 100 people to take part.
"I've tried to make the barriers for entry really low," he said.
The event includes activities for all age groups and fitness levels, thanks to the support of City of Greater Bendigo Council, local businesses and community groups getting behind the event.
"Activities now range from walking, running, skipping and Auskick activities to several group fitness classes," he said.
"For me, it's important to start the day with physical activity and nutritious food, and this event provides both of those things.
Mr Sandiford said the idea for the event came out of his move back to Bendigo a few months ago and learning about the city's growing obesity levels.
Recent data released by the Heart Foundation shows more than 60 per cent of adults in the Bendigo area are not getting enough exercise, and about 30 per cent are obese.
"When I saw Bendigo's recent obesity and physical inactivity figures, I knew I wanted to raise funds to help prevent heart disease," he said.
"I grew up here and have played sport all my life... I thought it would be good to create awareness and try and change the way it’s going.
"I’ve never done anything like this before."
He encouraged everyone to get involved.
"There's no need for registrations, come down and do what activity you want, and there will be healthy snacks to start your day," he said.
