The town not only sits at the intersection of larger areas, but also boasts bluestone buildings, spanning vistas and a proximity to the Campaspe River.
A local couple has hoped to make the most of the increasingly popular route with a new cafe, opened just over one week ago.
Elizabeth and Shane McGrath have brought dining back to the circa 1867 general store in the heart of the picturesque township.
Mrs McGrath said they knew they were "taking a punt" with the idea, but early local support had been encouraging.
"We want to offer people good old-fashioned home cooking, and the best coffee in Redesdale," she said.
"It's what people would always get at home. We also do all-day breakfasts, dinners and theme nights.
"We can accommodate for whatever people would like."
The new cafe, called Rural Cafe, joined Redesdale BP as the only open stores within the main township of 300 people after the pub shut more than 12 months ago.
Not only does the cafe boast hearty home-style cooking, diners could also cast their eye over artwork from the surrounding regions.
The store features an adjoining art gallery, bringing extra colour to the historic main street.
The weatherboard general store previously boasted a cafe several years ago and was once the subject of a television advertisement for a pest control company.
City of Greater Bendigo Eppalock Ward councillor Rod Campbell said the Redesdale community had been looking to establish a hub at the heart of the town.
"I imagine they would be very pleased to have a cafe open up in the town," he said.
"A cafe could be part of that genesis for local interaction."
Cr Campbell said the town's distance from Bendigo made it an ideal day trip, and a place to stop and eat would make it even more of an option for day trips.
"Redesdale is very scenic, the town certainly has a flavour of its own."
