Thornton's work-mates at Shane Muir Consulting Engineers in Hargreaves Street have decked out the front of their offices in maroon and blue coloured streamers and balloons.
"We want to see Matt go out and do well on Saturday," Shane Muir Consulting Engineers admin and accounts manager Sally Sheahan said on Thursday.
"He has been really positive this week and I haven't seen too many nerves and hopefully, he can have a win."
Among those cheering Thornton on Saturday will be his draftsman colleague David Stringer, a Sandhurst supporter.
"It's a bit different not seeing Golden Square in the grand final, but it's great Sandhurst has got its chance," Mr Stringer said.
