Woolworths had already committed to phase out cage eggs from all stores by 2018, but the Kennington store decided not to stock them from the get-go.
I find this both humane and innovative, an unusual yet impressive combination in the business world. Thankfully, Woolworths is not alone, with an IGA in Warrandyte recently removing all cage eggs from its shelves, the first IGA in Australia to do so.
Then came the announcement from McDonalds Australia that cage eggs would be taken off the menu within the next three years.
From independent grocers, to mighty multi-nationals, our collective voice is hear.Customers demand products at a competitive price, without sacrificing quality and the welfare of animals. I am one of many who will always opt for the cruelty-free and guilt-free option.
