The former Gold Coast Suns and VFL representative gives the Tigers' midfield group a much-needed injection of class.
"Alik wasn't sure if he wanted to keep playing VFL footy and (Kyneton star) Ben Weightman is friends of his family, so that was pretty influential,'' Kyneton coach Mark Adamson said.
"Alik wins his own footy and can play as an outside midfielder as well. He can go forward and kick goals, so he's a great signing for our club.
"To get him signed nice and early helps the club enormously."
Former Bendigo Gold coach Aussie Jones described Magin as a "huge get" for Kyneton.
"Alik drove a four-hour round trip twice a week every week for training because that's the type of player and person he is,'' Jones said.
"On and off the field he was fantastic for the Gold.
"On the field the real positive for Kyneton is that Alik will do damage in the midfield and forward.
"Alik and Weightman will form a very dangerous combination."
Adamson expects "90 per cent" of this year's senior squad to re-sign with the Tigers.
"Kane Ransted looks like going back to Perth,'' Adamson said.
"We might lose one or two others, but overall we'll keep 90 per cent of the group.
"We'll be looking to recruit a key position player for both ends of the ground as well."
