Bendigo Foodshare Chairwoman Cathie Steele said the donation was "fantastic news".
She said Foodshare had been using a borrowed van, but having their own would guarantee they could continue transporting food to Bendigo schools, relief centres and community groups.
"It's a great grant, it's really fantastic," she said.
"It's a great beginning to support us to be sustainable."
She said many companies volunteered their time and trucks to transport food across Victoria - including J&L Freight - which played a vital role in the organisation's operations.
She said the van would not replace the help of these companies, but would rather be used locally, to pick up food from Bendigo businesses.
