After playing in Alice Springs last weekend, City is now gearing up to play in the centre of Victoria.
Melbourne City Football Club chief executive Scott Munn said on Tuesday a strong squad would take on FC Bendigo.
“Most of our big-name players are available to take on FC Bendigo,” Munn said.
Those taking to the pitch for City against FC Bendigo include Irish star Damien Duff.
The winger’s outstanding career includes 100 matches for Ireland, and two English Premier League titles with Chelsea.
FC Bendigo’s defence will be tested by David Williams, City’s leading goalscorer in last season’s A-league championship on 15 goals.
“We are getting to the pointy end of our pre-season campaign, so we are serious about this match in Bendigo,” Munn said.
City’s latest leg of its regional tour was in the 'Red Centre' against Adelaide United.
Munn said Tuesday’s match would be the club’s second in Bendigo.
The club previously known as Melbourne Heart played Loddon Mallee Lightning at Epsom in 2010.
Heart’s squad on that occasion was coached by John van’t Schip who is in a second stint as City’s head coach.
Munn said there were many spin-offs from matches in regional centres.
“It’s important to engage with country centres, and on this occasion to re-engage with the Bendigo community.
“Tueday’s match is a great opportunity for fans to see some of the A-League’s best in their own backyard.”
The FC Bendigo and Melbourne City match will kick off at 6.30pm on pitch five at Epsom-Huntly Reserve. Gates open at 5pm.
Tickets prices are $10 adult, $5 under-18 and concession. It’s free entry for under-5s.
Corporate tickets are $50 each or $450 for 10. A corporate ticket includes entry, match program, pre and post-match food and drinks in function room.
Bookings for corporate tickets are a must. Contact FC Bendigo on 5434 2418 or go to Brewhouse Coffee Roasters in Hargreaves Street, Bendigo.
