It always amuses me the excuses put forward by the defence lawyers.
In this particular case... Meares' solicitor, Chris Murphy, said his client had suffered "punishment" in the form of the media attention following the incident.
"She was married to a man named James Packer.
"She was married to this man for two years but it has haunted her for the rest of her life," Mr Murphy said. (Not will but has).
How could a magistrate believe that. I must say it appears to be hard living at the top.
