A GROUP of La Trobe University students, called Tutu for Change, has formed to raise their concern that proposed cuts to staffing at the institution are "too, too much".
Tashara Roberts, 34, is a spokeswoman for the group.
"Bendigo students seem to be very passive and I think they need a voice," she said.
Ms Roberts said the tutus looked silly because they were meant to.
"We might as well be fairies because La Trobe thinks we (students) are make believe."
"I will gladly humiliate myself in public for the right reason. We wanted to make a statement, we wanted to be seen.
"Students have no idea what impact it (the university restructure) will have on their education and that's not good enough."
Ms Roberts is a student in the visual arts faculty and is concerned about the effects of potential cuts on her education.
"I'm not concerned about my lecturers, they're skilled, they will get jobs, I'm concerned about my education."
