The only traffic light-controlled intersection into the shopping complex has pedestrian lights across the Calder Highway.
Once crossed, the pedestrian or scooter driver is faced with a grass nature strip adjacent to the lighting premises or a dash through the service station.
They are then faced with a busy roundabout and a walk through a car park to gain access to Lansell Square.
It appears that the owners of the shopping complex only want access by motor vehicle or public transport and don’t give a damn about pedestrians or mobility scooters.
One would expect that aged retirees in the nearby retirement village opposite the centre on the Calder Highway would have no means of access to Lansell Square other than by the pedestrian lights.
One would hope that between the developer and the Bendigo council that a proper access walkway will be constructed into the centre as part of the current redevelopment of the shopping complex.
