THE community has paid tribute to Lewis Morgan on social media after the Colbinabbin teenager was killed in a spotlighting incident on a private property at Balranald last week.
Family and friends have taken to Facebook to voice their grief and express their condolences.
Lewis, who was riding in the back of a Toyota Land Cruiser Utility, was thrown from the vehicle when the 22-year-old driver swerved to chase a kangaroo about 10.30pm on July 25.
Amy Eade wrote, "gone but never forgotten".
Rachel Harrison wrote, love to the Morgans and Tobins.
Maddy Mackrill wrote, "everyone will always love you Lewy".
Amelia Calleja sent her condolences to the family and described the death as a "terrible tragedy".
John Barlow wrote, "our deepest sympathies to the Morgans, you are a great bunch and I know your strength as a family will get you through this difficult time".
Clint Kelly wrote, he was so sad for Lewis' family and that everyone was in his thoughts.
Jacinta O'Donoghue wrote, "sympathy to his family and friends, he will be sadly missed by many".
Hayley Bolton, described the accident as "just tragic".
Kelsey Hageman wrote on Facebook she would miss Lewis' grin and laugh, while Debbie Tainton wrote her heart went out to the Morgan family.
Linton James, wrote "RIP Lewy, what a legend".
Lewis' second cousin, Phil Morgan, yesterday said the 18-year-old would be remembered as carefree and well-liked teenager, who wore a cheesy grin.
"He was one of those blokes everyone liked. Nothing worried him - he was carefree. He was a real good kid and it's an absolute tragedy what has happened," he said.
Colbinabbin Football Club president Tait Hamilton said the tragedy would rock the entire Heathcote and District Football League.
"The community will be hit really hard by this accident. It will be a long road ahead. It's a tragedy," he said.
Lewis is survived by his parents Peter and Megan, and five brothers Charles, Paul, Patrick, Jeremy and Jackson. A funeral date has not been set.
