THIS year's Bendigo Bank Fun Run boasts a new start area to cater for the event's growing popularity.
Participants will take their marks in front of the Visitor Information Centre in Pall Mall before completing the inner city course with a choice of five, 10 and 15 kilometre events.
Early-bird registrations are now being taken for the November 2 event with proceeds earmarked to go towards purchasing new equipment for the Bendigo Health's dialysis units.
Bendigo Health chief executive John Mulder launched the 2014 event on Friday afternoon at the Golden Dragon Museum.
"Each year it gets bigger and better - we didn't think it could but it does and it will and I have some great announcements to make about enhancements to the event this year," Mr Mulder said.
"Last year we introduced the 15 kilometre course for the first time and that was particularly well-received by our runners.
"This year, in terms of the changes that we have in front of us, we've outgrown the location in Chapel Street to start the various events so this year the decision's been made to move the start to Pall Mall because we'll have a little bit more room.
"And what a fantastic location for the new start line in front of the information centre and in front of Bendigo's iconic buildings.
"It's only going to give the event even more status."
Mr Mulder said the event had become a fixture on the calendar of many committed runners.

"This year also we're extremely excited to see the launch of a dedicated website for the fun run at www.bendigobankfunrun.com.au
"In another first for the event, the Bendigo Addy is creating a Fun Run headquaters on their site, a dedicated portal for fun run information.
"The Addy have been great supporters for the event and we thank them sincerely for their contribution.
"Last year we launched Bendigo Health's new vision Healthy Communities and World Class Healthcare and we're particularly supportive of the fun run as a fantastic example of that message and we hope we have a record number of participants."
Bendigo Health Foundation events co-ordinator Kiri Earl said there were many ways people can support the event.
“You can enter the fun run as a participant, volunteer on the day or simply make a donation to the Bendigo Health Foundation,” she said.
“Through the generosity of our volunteers and the support of our sponsors we are able to guarantee 100 per cent of your entry fee will go towards purchasing new equipment for our Renal Dialysis service at Bendigo Health.”
All participants will again receive a gold medal at the finish line and the opportunity to enjoy a free healthy breakfast. People can register either as individuals or part of a team with family, friends or work mates.
