“The club is going to be 90 years old next year and has a long proud history,” Rod said.
“We’re planning something special for next year.”
Rod said he joined Bendigo Rotary when he and wife, Shirley, retired to Bendigo in 2004.
“I had the opportunity and time to join and liked what Rotary did and met some members through work,” he said.
Shirley (pictured right with Rod) is also president of the Inner Wheel, which was originally an organisation for partners of Rotarians.
But having two presidents in the same household isn’t a new issue for the McDonalds.
They were the men’s and ladies’ captains at Midlands Golf Club in Ballarat.
This week Bendigo Rotary are combining with Next Generation and Eaglehawk Rotary to man the gate at the Festival of Lamb.
“We often partner up and will be covering 54 shifts over the weekend,” Rod said.
Rod said the club was involved in both local and international events and encouraged other community-minded people to join.
