The Bendigo Advertiser has closed the popular free weekly newspaper to concentrate on the daily product and rapidly expanding digital platforms.
Some popular sections of The Bendigo Miner will transfer to a new community lift-out published each Thursday in the Bendigo Advertiser.
The caption competition will now appear in Down The Mall each Saturday.
The two full-time positions attached to The Bendigo Miner have been transferred to the daily operation. The Bendigo Advertiser is now working on a new structure to deliver quality content through the printed edition, our website and iPhone app.
New digital content initiatives are being developed.
An Android app will also soon be launched to give Bendigo Advertiser readers more choice for content.
The Bendigo Advertiser would like to thank the community for supporting the free weekly newspaper since its inception as CV Week and transition to Bendigo Miner in 2007.
The Bendigo Miner has always tried to serve as a voice for the community and it has been our pleasure to write some of the amazing stories that make our community tick.
Bendigo Miner sales manager Alida Robinson said the paper had grown from a small lifestyle paper to a community paper with its own vibrant soul.
“In my role as sales manager for the past five years it has been my privilege to work with a team of dedicated and passionate journalists and creative people who breathed the paper to life each week,” she said.
“These special people shared their varied passions with us as a community and we are richer for their hard work.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been a part of bringing The Bendigo Miner to life each week and to all our loyal readers and advertisers, thank you for your constant positive feedback and support of The Bendigo Miner.”
The Bendigo Advertiser looks forward to those who have enjoyed The Bendigo Miner now supporting the new community lift-out in Thursday’s Bendigo Advertiser.
