UPDATE: BFL footy, South Bendigo v Golden Square at QEO

SOUTH Bendigo and Golden Square do battle in today's 1th round of the Bendigo Football League season at Queen Elizabeth Oval.

The Bloods have marked just one victory this season, but one of their best performances was a one-point defeat on Golden Square's turf at MyJet Oval in round two.

Golden Square regains last season's premiership-winning coach and Hawthorn premiership player Rick Ladson for his first match this season.

A talented Golden Square line-up led by Simon Rosa, Corey Jones, Jon Coe and Dale Young, and coached by Nick Carter starts hot favourite in  today's clash.

Square quickly erased a two-goal deficit early in the second as it started to kick goals.

Playing in a forward pocket, after being a brilliant back pocket for many years, Clayton Anderson sparked Square with goals from either pocket at the city end.

Anderson's first has to be in the running for goal of the year.

The Dogs lifted their play on every line and kept South goalless in second term.
