Last time: Round 1, 2014: Kangaroo Flat 18.11 (119) d Maryborough 10.11 (71).
Since 1995: Maryborough 24; Kangaroo Flat 18.
MARYBOROUGH will be striving to make it two wins on the trot when it hosts Kangaroo Flat.
The Magpies had a timely boost of confidence last round when they kicked 22 goals in a 59-point belting of Kyneton to win their first game and climb off the bottom of the ladder.
While the Magpies are chasing two wins in a row, Kangaroo Flat can jump from sixth to fourth with a victory on the road.
The Roos defeated Gisborne by one point last round to move to 5-4, but this clash at Princes Park has all the makings of a danger game for the finals aspirants.
CASTLEMAINE V GISBORNE - 2.20pm Saturday at Camp Reserve.
Last time: Round 1, 2014: Gisborne 28.15 (183) d Castlemaine 9.8 (62).
Since 2000: Gisborne 24; Castlemaine 5.
GISBORNE travels to Castlemaine aiming to rebuild momentum in its season.
The Bulldogs sit in third position, but have dropped their past three games to Kangaroo Flat, Strathfieldsaye and Sandhurst.
However, the Bulldogs are expecting to start filtering key players back into the side in coming weeks, which will help their prospects of holding onto the double chance.
Castlemaine - which last beat Gisborne in 2009 - can’t afford another start like last round when it was already 52 points down at quarter-time against Golden Square.
SANDHURST V SOUTH BENDIGO - 2.20pm Saturday at QEO.
Last time: Round 1, 2014: Sandhurst 13.14 (92) d South Bendigo 5.11 (41).
Since 1995: South Bendigo 26; Sandhurst 21.
IT will be top versus bottom when QEO co-tenants Sandhurst and South Bendigo lock horns.
A Sandhurst victory - as expected - would give the Dragons 10 wins in a row for the first time since their premiership year of 2004.
The Dragons survived two tough challenges from Eaglehawk and Golden Square the past two rounds to remain the only undefeated team this year.
There’s no respite for the battling South Bendigo, with Saturday’s clash coming on the back of last round when the Bloods played the BFL’s other power team this year, Strathfieldsaye, and lost by 99 points.
