Nearly seventy years later, the former wheat farmer is the proud owner of three bright red vintage tractors, which he has lovingly and painstakingly restored to their former mid-20th century glory.

"I might spend all day just getting a bolt out," Mr Tuohey said.

"A lot of people say, 'what are you doing with that heap of rust?', he said.

Two years ago Mr Tuohey had a third heart attack and wondered if he could keep up his hobby. 

These days he is glad to be able to keep going albeit at a slower pace.

More than one hundred tractors from around Australia are coming to Bendigo Showgrounds this weekend for the 75th birthday of the Farmall model tractor brand.

Visitors are asked to donate a gold coin to the Dragons Abreast Ladies Breast Cancer Association.
