A petition with 258 names will be tabled at Wednesday night's City of Greater Bendigo meeting.
The document calls for the crossing to be installed on the Midland Highway due to a lack of safe places for pedestrians to cross.
It notes there is a growing housing density with new estates leading to increased vehicle traffic.
The residents say there is an imminent risk of an accident.
Council director presentation and assets Darren Fuzzard said the issue was a VicRoads matter and that the council would undertake a vehicle and traffic count to pass on to the state road authority.
