Major Collision Investigation Group officers charged the 28-year-old today.
A police statement said an 84-year-old Swan Hill man was killed when a driver allegedly failed to give way at the intersection of Quambatook and Ultima-Lake Boga roads around 11.20am on July 31 last year.
The Kangaroo Flat man was charged with dangerous driving causing death, drive in a dangerous manner and failing to give way.
He was bailed to appear before the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
The Swan Hill Guardian reported that at the time the 84-year-old from Swan Hill was driving a Mitsubishi utility vehicle, heading south on Quambatook Road, and the Bendigo man was driving a Corolla sedan west on the Ultima-Lake Boga Road.
Swan Hill Police traffic management unit head Les McPhee said the Swan Hill man was not wearing a seat belt.
He said the 84-year-old was thrown from the ute's cabin and died at the scene.
The Bendigo man was taken to Swan Hill hospital for observation.
