Bendigo Break and Front End Service's land line phone service was disconnected on May 5, but not because of unpaid bills.
The service provider is an Australian telecommunications company called Conec2, which went into administration on May 9.
Conec2 was forced into administration after two of its subsidiaries collapsed, leaving a debt that the company was unable to pay back.
Conec2 was losing $180,000 per month and had failed to pay its bills to suppliers Telstra, AAPT and Vocus.
Lawyers for Telstra told the Victorian Supreme Court in early May it had cut off thousands of landline telephone services including Conec2.
The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman has been inundated with complaints and has advised customers to seek new services.
Bendigo mechanic Denis James Jeffrey said he sought a new service with Telstra 10 days ago and still didn't have a functioning phone.
"(Business has) almost stopped because people can't contact us," he said.
Customers should call Mr Jeffrey on 0408 434 440.
