POLICE say a man is lucky he did not sustain any life-threatening injuries after his red Ford ute collided with a bus carrying 50 people in west Bendigo on Friday night.
Bendigo Police First Constable Paul Lethlean said the Kangaroo Flat man, aged 36, had failed to give way at the intersection of Booth Street and Marong Road about 7.15pm.
He said the driver of the bus was travelling towards Marong and had tried to avoid the ute.
He said the bus collided with the Ford causing it to spin out of control.
"He was very, very lucky," First Constable Lethlean said.
"Anytime you have a collision between a car and bus, the bus is always going to win.
"He is lucky - it could have been a lot worse."
First Constable Lethlean said the driver of the ute was taken to hospital by ambulance with a sore leg.
He said the man suffered no major injuries.
Passengers on the bus were uninjured.
Both drivers tested negative to a breath test.
UPDATE 7.55PM: Ambulance Victoria has confirmed a man in his 30s has been transported to Bendigo Health from the crash scene.
Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said the person was treated for facial injuries.
The patient is listed in a stable condition.
UPDATE 7.40PM: One person is being treated by paramedics after a crash between a car and bus in west Bendigo.
The person was an occupant of a red Ford utility.
The bus involved in the collision sustained minor damage and was moved 300 metres from the crash scene at the intersection of Booth Street and Marong Road.
There were 50 people on the bus heading to the Marong Hotel.
CFA, paramedics and police remain at the scene.
The red Ford utility is being placed on a tow truck.

EARLIER: People have been injured in a west Bendigo car accident.
Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said paramedics had been called to the scene at 7.12pm.
He said there were possibly two patients.
Mr Mullen said there were reports a bus had been involved in the accident.
The crash has happened at the corner of Booth Street and Marong Road.
A red Ford utility is one of the vehicles involved.
One person is being placed in an ambulance at the scene.
Police are redirecting traffic travelling north on Marong Road into Booth Street.
Traffic travelling south on Marong Road is being diverted into Inglis Street.
