“It was a huge show! Everytime we play a regional show, we notice the crowd is so hungry to see an act they might not usually get a chance to see,” one half of Peking Duk, Adam Hyde, said.
Peking Duk consists of Hyde and Reuben Styles. Before the pair formation, Styles was playing guitar in a rock band and Hyde was hanging out with hip-hop groups.
Their past musical experience has helped develop their sound.
“It’s really rad to have Reuben be able to pull out the guitar every now and then,” Hyde said.
“I think (the hip-hop groups) maybe helped me work out how to jump around on stage and yell things into the microphone.”
The first three shows of GTM 2014 have been amazing for Peking Duk and the pair love being on the road.
“The reception has been fantastic. We, luckily, were able to play a hometown show at Canberra for Groovin The Moo and there was a huge vibe there,” Hyde said.
“The crowds are absolutely amazing and full of energy.”
This year Peking Duk has released two singles (Mufasa and High). High went gold in Australia.
“2014 has been crazy, we haven’t really had a chance to stop and reflect yet,” Hyde said.
“Two new singles, including one that has gone gold, is exciting. We are always trying to make the next single better than the last so it’s really great to see High being received as well as it has been.”
Peking Duk play at 6pm tomorrow at GTM.
