The Melbourne-based band feature three Bendigo boys – singer and guitarist Brenton Perry, guitarist Darcy Carter and bass player Tommy Snowden.
Drummer Henry Hollingsworth comes from Traralgon and the band is excited for a home-town show.
“Darcy’s folks live around the corner from the showgrounds, so it’s not too far to go,” Hollingsworth said.
“We’ve slept in the van before but it’s not great. It’s too cold at this time of they year.”
My Echo put their own spin on the punk rock genre, with Hollingsworth saying the group had listened to music from the 1950s right through the classic rock genres to the 90s.
Hollingsworth said My Echo had only performed a few shows on their own but that the four boys were picking up steam.
“The launch of our single was sold out and that was a cracker show,” he said.
“We have definitely had a few years in the slog but we are starting to see a few more people come to our shows and we definitely welcome that change.”
Since their single came out, My Echo have also finished their first EP, which will be released today.
“It hasn’t taken too long (to put together),” ,” Hollingsworth said.
“We recorded it live and saved ourselves a bit of time.
“It was a cool experience that took about four or five months.”
My Echo’s self-titled EP is available to buy at myecho.tentotworecords.com.
The band play at 11.15am at GTM tomorrow.
