The impressive, 8-metre by 3.6-metre artwork was installed on the exterior of the building at 5.30am on Wednesday morning.
Art Series Hotel Asia Pacific project manager Edward Cramer said the logistics of getting the bulky piece onto to the building was quite an endeavour.
"The main thing we were worried about was flex ... meaning the tiles would pop off," he said.
"It's a one-off piece."
The artwork was created using a steel frame with a cement sheet backing, and assembled with hundreds of painted mosaic tiles to make The Family - an original artwork by Mark Schaller.
More than 600 hours of work went into the making of the piece and two monster cranes - weighing 120,000 kilograms and 80,000 kilograms respectively, were employed to erect it.
Artist Mark Schaller, who the hotel is named after, said he wanted to create a display that had an optimistic feel.
"The family is the future and it seemed topical," he said.
"Families are important and everyone has one.
"We wanted it to be durable and permanent and we thought mosaic was the most durable."
Mr Schaller said he was looking forward to the hotel's opening.
"I think it's a colossal honour and I'm very excited," he said.

Art consultant Ken McGregor, who came up with the Art Series Hotel concept in conjunction with the Deague family - which owns the brand - said the artwork was world-class.
The Schaller Studio is a 128-room boutique hotel located at the new Bendigo Hospital site.
The hotel will open on May 9.
