RELATED: Clear favourite for splash park
THE PROPOSAL: Park designs set to make a splash
THE Long Gully community is supportive of a new splash park soon to be built in their neighbourhood.
Long Gully Neighbourhood Centre chairwoman Julie Clark and her team prefer the gold rush design.
"There seems to be more gadgets in the gold rush," Ms Clark said.
"I have two adult and five children at home.
"I have grandchildren, too, and they will just love it.
"We will have somewhere close to get wet during the summer.
"It will be a space for families to go, too.
"Since the pool is gone, we need somewhere for the summer months.
"It offers a great wet play space for the kids.
"It won't cost anything for the families here, too.
"The cost to get into the aquatic centre can be huge for some big families.
"This will be close to home and walking distance for the families who don't have any transport.
"It would be great if we get some sort of footbridge that covers the creek."
Ella, 8, whose father didn't want her surname published, said she liked the gold rush design because of the hoses - or "spray things" - as she described them.
Havilah Road Pre-school Centre teacher Joanna Wiratma said she was looking forward to having a playground closer than before.
"It's well overdue. Where we are could do with a nice park," she said.
"If there was a park nearby then we could wander to it - and soon there will be.
"I just know that families around here will love it."
Each of the three designs includes various outdoor play equipment that splashes or sprays water.
