IT was billed as the Brendan Fevola Show, but a Golden Square teenager playing his first game turned out to be the show stealer.
Sam Harper calmly slotted a goal on the run from 45m out with just 50 seconds on the clock to give Golden Square a stunning 13.12 (90) to 13.6 (84) win over Kangaroo Flat in their Good Friday clash at Beck Legal Oval.
A Fevola inspired Kangaroo Flat had led by as many as 27 points in the third quarter and their 13-year streak without a win over the Bulldogs looked set to be quashed.
However, the young Bulldogs never-say-die attitude and winning culture came to the fore.
They kicked six of the final seven goals of the game to leave Fevola and the Roos stunned.
The former Carlton and Brisbane full-forward bagged 4.2 for the night, with just one of those goals coming in the second half.
Despite Square's recent domination of the BFNL, Friday night's win will go down as one of its best home and away victories in modern times.
Former AFL stars Rick Ladson and Corey Jones were sidelined, while inspirational skipper Simon Rosa left the field midway through the second term with a hand/wrist injury and didn't return.
It's the second straight week the reigning champions have won by a goal or less. It sets up a blockbuster clash with Gisborne on Anzac Day.
