Following a bye in the opening round, the Superoos will travel to Pyramid Hill with 16 new players in their squad of 23.
The side includes a spine of all new players - Daniel Meroli (full-back), Spike Ingley (centre half-back), Aaron McKean (centre), James Drake (centre half-forward) and Michael Spooner (full-forward).
After winning just two games last season and copping seven losses by more than 100 points, there’s fresh optimism at the Superoos as they embark on their 125th anniversary season.
“It’s always a tough gig at Pyramid Hill, but we’re going up there expecting to be competitive,” Mitiamo coach Denis Grinton said.
“It will give us an opportunity to see the new blokes under pressure... we know Pyramid Hill will apply plenty all game.”
With so many new players in the side, playing cohesive football early in the season shapes as one of the Superoos’ biggest challenges.
But Grinton - embarking on his second season as Mitiamo coach - is still expecting a strong first-up showing from his side against the Bulldogs.
“I always say that good players make the right decisions with footy... any talk about taking a bit of time to gel is just an excuse,” Grinton said.
“Hopefully, we can play some good footy that will give our club something to look forward to this year.”
Mitiamo has lost its past eight games against Pyramid Hill by an average of 75 points.
• Other round two LVFL games: Calivil United v Inglewood, Marong v YCW, BL-Serpentine v Newbridge.
