"We had nine trucks called in and some of those were for water supply because trucks couldn't access local water supplies because they may have got bogged in the wet weather and that's why so many trucks were called in," a CFA spokeswoman said.
"The occupants at the house aren't home but crews are trying to verify their location but they don't believe anyone was inside."
The spokeswoman said the cause of the fire was yet to be determined.
UPDATE: The house fire in Hansen Road, Bamawn, has now been listed as safe on the CFA website.
A CFA spokeswoman said firefighters were now mopping up.
It is believed the house is on a dairy farm.
"Initially they said it was fully engulfed so I'm just waiting for an update," the spokeswoman said.
"There are still nine units on scene."

FIREFIGHTERS have been called to a house fire in Hansen Road, Bamawn.
Fire units from Lockington and Rochester have been called to the blaze.
A CFA spokeswoman said three trucks were on scene with three more on their way.
"We got the call about 12.25pm," she said.
