Sergeant Adam Woods from the Bendigo police said a red Ford Laser parked on Crook Street in Strathdale was broken into between 9pm and 11pm on Saturday night.
He said the other five vehicles were broken into some time between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
Sergeant Woods said all six vehicles had their windows smashed.
"There seems to be similar entry into the vehicles," he said.
"That's the only thing that links them all together."
The other vehicles that were broken into include a Mazda parked in a residential street in Pethard Place, Golden Square; a Toyota HiLux and a Hyundai parked at the Bendigo Stadium car park on Marong Road; and two Ford Lasers parked at the La Trobe University car park.
A stereo was stolen from one of the cars parked at La Trobe University and a bag and some money was taken from the Mazda in Golden Square.
There were no reports of possessions being stolen from the other four cars.
On Saturday night a blue Ford Falcon was stolen from Carlsruhe Station Road in Woodend.
The owner left the vehicle by the roadside at 9pm on Saturday as it had a flat tyre and he did not have a spare.
When the man returned for his ute at 8.30am on Sunday it was gone.
Kyneton police were investigating the incident.
