Walkers braved sleep deprivation and cold weather to walk thousands of kilometres around the La Trobe University athletics track.
Together they raised close to $170,000.
But it's not just about the money, with the show of support for those battling cancer, and those who have lost the fight, just as important.
The touching story of Terri Stockz is featured on page one and page six of today's paper.
Ms Stockz is battling terminal cancer and her outlook on life is refreshing.
She says people can either sit down and give up the fight, or live life to the fullest.
She says people can either sit down and give up the fight, or live life to the fullest.
We can all take something from her thoughts.
Organiser Rob Kean said he was proud of the participants and what they had achieved at the event.
And rightly so.
The money raised form the event will be used to research cancer.
As the instance of cancer rises - most people will know someone affected by the disease - the importance of this work also increases.
The walkers should be proud.
