The long-standing shop and café on Main Street attracted no bids when it went under the hammer on Wednesday.
Owner Heather Mountjoy said the town got their wish.
"A lot of people have been saying 'good luck but I hope it doesn't sell', as they don’t want us to go," she said.
“It is a nice place to be. In the nine years I've been here I have never had a grumpy customer.
"It was a sad day for me but in the end nothing happened.
“We have had a few people go through so there is a bit of interest but we have just got to find the right person who wants the lifestyle.”
Agent Wayne Heard said it did not sell on the day but he hopes the property will attract more interest now it has a known price tag of $195,000 to $225,000.
“At an auction it has an unknown price, but now people can see the price they will be able to see it is quite good value.”
