City of Greater Bendigo councillor and chair of the festival's advisory board Rod Fyffe is excited to bring an updated festival to the people of Bendigo.
"The festival is centred on Pall Mall, Rosalind Park and the Chinese precinct," Cr Fyffe said.
"There will be something there for everyone."
The annual Bendigo Advertiser Gala Parade will be on Easter Sunday.
"There are still openings for float entries," Cr Fyffe said.
"We enjoy seeing schools and young children in the floats.
Cr Fyffe said the idea for the theme 'Easter Bonnets - you wear it well' came from the advisory committee as a way to get people to be sun smart and enthusiastic about Easter.
"It's a great way to to get people to wear head gear," he said.
"This was a theme to get people dressed up.
"Personally, I love seeing the kids at the Easter egg hunt.
"That epitomises what Easter is."
The Gala Parade's new route will be one of many updates featured in this year's parade.
"It will reduce the number of road closures needed for the parade," Cr Fyffe said.
"The new route also makes it easier for the public to view the parade.
“Both View Street and Pall Mall are Bendigo’s premier heritage and cultural precincts and the changes will allow local traders within this precinct to extend their opening hours.”
A new FReeZA youth music event on Thursday April 17 will also be part of this year's festival.
The Bendigo Advertiser will include a 24-page festival guide in this Saturday's paper.
The Addy will continue to cover Easter festival events with stories and online galleries.
