A SEASON of major improvement for Golden Gully as it made the finals for the first time since 2005.
However, the Cobras were unable to capitalise on their finishing position of second on the ladder.
The Cobras seemingly had all the aces in their hand when rain intervened in their semi-final against Emu Creek.
But the batting has been the biggest knock on the Cobras all season and the semi-final showed why when they were unable to hold on for a draw against Emu Creek and were bowled out in the dying minutes of day two.
Youngster Nathan Hamblin (362 runs) proved a quality recruit for the Cobras, while the three Moore brothers - Cameron, Peter and Phillip - who also joined the club combined for 64 wickets and 421 runs to help Golden Gully climb the ladder.
