Allied health staff are organising an awareness campaign to help spread the message "falls are not a natural part of ageing".
Occupational therapist Emily Powell said the week-long campaign would start on April 1.
“We are conducting information sessions that will demonstrate to the community that with a proper assessment, making small changes to the home environment and understanding strategies, falls can be prevented,” Ms Powell said.
Adults aged 65 and older are in the highest risk category for falls.
Information will be available at the doctors’ clinics at Maryborough, Avoca and Dunolly and at a range of community locations around the Central Goldfields and Pyrenees area.
A falls information session will be at the MDHS Community Services Blue Room on April 3 from 10am to noon.
