Dawson's Australia's Next Top Model colleagues Jennifer Hawkins and Didier Cohen led the tribute and celebration of her life.
The New Zealand-born model was found dead in her Sydney apartment last month.
Last night her sisters Vicky Dawson and Robin Barclay accepted an honorary ASTRA on Dawson's behalf.
But subscription television's night of nights also proved how much viewers appreciate quality drama.
Shaynna Blaze and Matt Shirvington hosted the night and were entertaining thanks to a willingness to poke fun at themselves.
Showcase won the channel of the year while Wentworth was awarded most outstanding drama and most outstanding performance by a female (for Nicole daSilva).
The Lifestyle Channel continued to show its popularity with a swag of awards including favourite male and female personalities for Selling Houses Australia talents Andrew Winter (his fifth in a row) and Shaynna Blaze.
Selling Houses Australia and Grand Designs UK also picked up favourite program (Australian and international respectively) while Matt Moran's Paddock to Plate won best lifestyle program. All three shows feature on the Lifestyle Channel.
Peter Mullan won most outstanding performance by a male for the award-winning drama Top of the Lake.
Mike Sheahan was awarded for his efforts in the football world with his show, Open Mike, winning the best sports entertainment award.
The low-key event was a chance for subscription television's stars to let their hair out as well as all the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to help make it all happen.
