More than 600 competitors from across the world travelled to Hamilton in New Zealand for the event with Boucher falling just one shot behind the winner.
Shooters from England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland and South Africa all took part in the event, which was hosted by the Waikato Clay Target Club.
“In the last 12 months I haven’t done any training or any shooting at all and just decided to hit the ground running over there,” Boucher said.
“The ball trap is a hard event the targets are harder than just the normal discipline that you shoot.
“A guy from the UK shot 49 and I shot 48, he won it outright and I came second.
“I actually was first in Double A category.”
Boucher, who is a member of the Bendigo Clay Target Club, continues to see success at the prestigious championships.
"I have been travelling to New Zealand for about 15 years," he said.
“I have won four national titles in New Zealand before and I have been runners up three times."
Boucher said the championships were one of the biggest events he competes in each year.
“We do have a national event in Australia, the championships will be held next month,” he said.
“The nationals will be held in Wagga Wagga, we have a national ground there.
“It is the biggest clay target event in Australia.”
Boucher will now head into the Australian championships with full of confidence but says he won’t be doing any training in preparation for the event.
“Most people will shoot up to three times a week, they will be out practicing and getting a bit fitter but I have three young kids and they keep me busy,” he said.
“Over the past five years I haven’t been so dedicated but I still like to shoot.”
