LEIGH McDERMOTT (Bendigo United)
“Miggy (Podosky) set it up for us with his seven-for with the ball and was probably the difference in the game.
“And our openers (Matt Pinniger and Mark Di Fede) put on 100 for the first wicket today, which took the game away from them, so it was a very good all-round effort that we can hopefully, produce again next weekend.”
LINTON JACOBS (Strathdale-Maristians)
“To Bendigo United’s credit they bowled really well on Saturday, but there was some poor batting on our behalf as well.
“We couldn’t put it together as a batting group and weren’t prepared to get in behind it and leave the ball early and limit the damage.
“We lost early wickets, which put our middle-order under pressure straight away... 140-odd was never going to be enough.”
TIM WOOD (Golden Square)
“You put in all year to get as high as you can on the ladder and normally a home final is all that comes out of it.
“You don’t count on the weather coming in like it did on Saturday, but fortunately for us and unfortunately for Eaglehawk, we lost a few hours.
“Being six-down overnight wasn’t ideal, but the boys today were unbelievable getting us the draw and the result we needed.
“Jake Higgins and Liam Smith showed a heap of resilience and really applied themselves.”
JASON ABBOTT (Eaglehawk)
“We had a good crack at it and were looking pretty good there for a while when we had them 6-122 on Saturday night.
“It’s hard to tell how it would have panned out had we bowled our 85 overs on Saturday. We may have only been chasing around 200 and on a good batting wicket, we would have given ourselves a chance of getting them.
“Unfortunately, the weather wrecked that for us, but full credit to Higgins and Smith for Golden Square... they hung in really well with the bat today.”
