There was an art show, a roll call and a memorabilia display during the day and a gala dinner at the Exhibition Centre on Saturday night for ex-students, teachers and parents.
Ex-students Elaine Harrington and Liza-Jane Purtill were on the anniversary's organising committee and were singing the praises of their former school.
"Our teachers were forward-thinking," Mrs Harrington said.
"Both the boys and girls did woodwork, metal work, cooking and sewing."
Both Mrs Purtill and Mrs Harrington still had metal works they made in high school, and both now have a love of home renovating.
They continue to live in the area and their children also attended the school.
