Michael Ferris, 23, was pulled over by police in Kennington last New Year's Eve and returned a positive drug test.
He told the Bendigo Magistrates Court on Thursday he had been driving to pick up friends at the time.
"I don't really have anything to say," Ferris said.
"I don't have an excuse for it."
Magistrate Bruce Cottrill asked why Ferris, who had previously lost his licence, was driving.
"I was just celebrating New Year's Eve," he said.
Ferris was convicted and fined $1200 plus court costs and again lost his licence.
