Bronwyn Griffiths and her nine-year-old son Connor aim to raise about $1000 for the World's Greatest Shave.
Mrs Griffiths said her cousin was diagnosed with Leukemia last year and is now in remission.
"My dad passed away last year," she said.
"My cousin was in between bouts of chemo and she still managed to come to the funeral.
"That is something I really appreciated."
Mrs Griffiths said she was not nervous about being bald and said cancer patients did not get the choice.
"Anyone who goes through cancer doesn't get the choice as to whether they want to loose their hair," she said.
"I have made the choice.
"It will grow back - it is the least I can do to support the cause."
Mrs Griffiths said when Connor found out what she was doing he wanted to sign up.
She said he was excited about the event.
The pair will shave their heads on Friday at Hairem Scarem in Strathdale.
