Members from the Post-1975 Veterans Central Victoria group have cleaned the memorial.
The Bendigo memorial is one of seven across Australia honouring Australian Servicemen who lost their lives at Sandakan and Kuching during World War II.
The service is at Strathdale Park from 11am.
Group secretary Lisa Gellatly said the veterans had worked with the Sandakan family and Friends Victoria, Bendigo District RSL and other ex-service organisations.
