More than 20 athletes from local clubs have been selected in the Victorian team to compete at the Olympic Park stadium, in age groups ranging from under-14 to under-20.
It is one of the biggest representations from this region at the Australian junior titles in recent years.
Eaglehawk, South Bendigo, Bendigo Harriers and Bendigo University all have at least one athlete qualified for the carnival, which starts on Wednesday.
The talented teenagers will contest disciplines including sprints, middle and long distance running, hurdles, jumps, throws and race walking.
While many of the "local" athletes live and study here, some travel regularly from other regional centres to train and compete with Bendigo-based clubs and coaches.
They include Kyneton hammer thower Liam Campbell, Elmore running and race walking sisters Teleah and Zahra Hayes, Charlton distance specialist Kye Jenkyn, Mildura's Lochie O'Brien and Goulburn Valley group Emily and Daniel Lawson, Liam Schreck, Aiden Smith and Zoe Boldiston.
