As part of their two-day training camp, the Gold players completed a "Backyard Blitz" style renovation of Amicus in central Bendigo.
The task was to clear the backyard and build a new decking.
"I couldn't be prouder of the way the players took to the task,'' Gold coach Aussie Jones said.
"This was designed to put something back into the community and the players responded to the task very well.
"When we unloaded the timber for the decking on Friday night we thought there was no chance we could get the job done in one day.
"On Saturday we started at 8am, were scheduled to be finished by 5pm, but the players had the job done by 2.30pm.
"It was a great effort by everyone."
The Gold squad also made a new path for Amicus at the front of the building to allow for wheelchair access.
"It was great for the group to do something different rather than just pure footy,'' Jones said.
"At the end of the day there was a real sense of achievement amongst the playing group."
With the two-day training camp concluded, Jones and his players now turn their attention to their first practice match against Footscray at Epsom-Huntly Recreation Reserve on March 15.
"Overall, the training camp is probably two of the best days I've had in my time with the club,'' Jones said.
"As a group we're really well placed heading into the start of the season."
The Gold will also play practice matches against Collingwood's VFL side in Melbourne on March 22 and Frankston at Strathfieldsaye on March 29.
