Community groups get cash boost

THREE community groups have received a financial boost from the Eaglehawk Lions Club.

The Lions club gave $250 to the Eaglehawk Brass Band, Eaglehawk Ambulance Station and Eaglehawk Fire Station.

President Eddie Williams said the club was pleased to contribute to other community groups in the region.

"It’s important to acknowledge the efforts of these groups and the important role they play in supporting the wider community," he said.

"Lions is about either providing service or raising money for their community, and these donations were made possible thanks to the support of people attending our fundraising events."

The club also selected Girton Grammar School's Catherine Fist as its contender for the Lions Youth of the Year quest.

The national event is designed for students to learn more about leadership
