ORGANISERS of the Bendigo International Madison are mixing things up this year with a penny farthing race.
About eight competitors will race the antique bicycles around the Tom Flood Sports Centre on Sunday evening of the event.
Madison organiser Rick McCaig said the event had hosted a penny farthing race before - about 10 years ago and it would be another addition to the competition.
Mr McCaig said the idea had been brought to his attention by Andy Hoare from Andy's Earthmovers.
"It has always been an ambition to have the race," he said.
"It's a good idea and offers something different.
"It should make a good spectacle."
Mr McCaig said competitors would come from across the state.
The Bendigo International Madison takes place on March 7, 8 and 9.
