Choir return for fresh season

THE Forever Young Choir are returning for another year and have a recital in life planned.

Living life is a running theme in the repertoire they began rehearsing last week.

Between classic 60s and 70s songs like Live and Let Die, Bridge Over Troubled Water and Go Your Own Way, the choir - made up mostly of retirees - also takes on covers of the Foo Fighters' Ain't it the Life and The Black Keys' Lonely Boy.

Forever Young founder Laura Dusseljee said it was exciting to begin rehearsals for a fourth year.

"We're making absolutely marvellous progress," Ms Dusseljee said.

"We're putting songs together a lot quicker, the harmonies are tighter and we can do a more challenging repertoire."

Ms Dusseljee said The Beatles' While My Guitar Gently Weeps was a popular song in the repertoire as well as the last addition to Forever Young's latest repertoire was Supertramp's The Logical Song.

"(Choir members) all get right on board with it. They want to know who's made the music and why they made it," Ms Dusseljee said.

Forever Young has increased it member numbers since its foundation, something Ms Dusseljee was excited about.

"It's fantastic because they're prepared to step out of their comfort zone and sing rock music," she said.

Forever Young will host their show in September and will rehearse their repertoire until then.
