Jimmy Possum interior consultant Nola Thorn, who chased after the offender into Rosalind Park, said a Bendigo school girl was brave enough to grab the leg of the chair, which caused the man to drop it.
"I was yelling 'stop that man, he's stolen a chair'," she said.
"I sounded like a fishwife.
"It was about 3.30pm so there were all these school kids walking through Rosalind Park and one girl grabbed the leg of the chair causing him to drop it and run away.
"The chairs are really heavy (weighing about 20kgs) so he wasn't running fast.
"He looked really awkward."
Ms Thorn said police were notified and CCTV footage would be reviewed.
